SDG 16 | Using Art Therapy to Overcome Trauma & Thrive | Geeta Vaishnavi

Finding peace & prosperity in Kashmir...

Welcome back SDG Talkers!! Thanks for joining us for another episode of highlighting change makers and their inspirational work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)!

IN THIS EPISODE:

  • How can street art empower youth to act?
  • How to pursue what you love, even if it scares you
  • What’s the impact of collaborating within the UNLEASH community?

Get the inside scoop from UNLEASH Global Talent 2022 Geeta Vaishnavi!

A street artist herself, Geeta has painted murals around India to use art as a mode of activism & raise a voice for climate change, child rights, girl child education and women empowerment. For more than half a decade, she has painted across community shelters, government schools and orphanages; transformed massive slums into walking street galleries, painted fairytale on school walls, and much more. Working on such projects made Geeta aware about the lack of arts in the Indian education system.

Geeta is also the Founder of the JK Arts Foundation, which aspires to leverage technology & democratize ‘Arts in Education’ by facilitating visual arts-based learning modules through workshops that are incorporated into traditional education curriculum. Their goal is to impact 1 million children by 2030 via artistic interventions to drive equity in education.
